About the Shelter
At the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard we are dedicated to educating and encouraging the hearts and minds of the community to help the animals of Martha’s Vineyard. At ASMV we are dedicated to providing efficient, high quality and humane care of animals in our shelter.
The shelter was established in 2009 and in 2012 the shelter accepted the generous gift of the Kitty Foote building from the MSCPA and began operation as an independent non-profit.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard continues to be self-supporting through donations from our sponsors, grants and fund-raising events.
This fund, created by Eleanor Hubbard in 2018, is dedicated to the care of those animals primarily adopted through the Animal Shelter of Martha's Vineyard by members of the island community and in need of veterinary intervention.
Without such veterinary care these animals might not survive or could face removal from their homes and surrender to a shelter. No matter how advanced a disability, sickness, or age, and regardless of an animal's terminal illness, if the owner/family seeks veterinary assistance this fund was created to provide that option.
